Thais Drassinower is a Peruvian filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She holds an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University and is a Film Independent Fellow and a BAFTA Directing Newcomer.  She's also the host of FILM MAMMA - a podcast and blog where she interviews female directors on the process of making their first feature.

Her first short film “Memories of The Sea" was an Official Selection at various international film festivals including Palm Springs Shortfest and Aspen Shortsfest. It was chosen "Best of the Fest" at the New York International Children Film Festival and was taken on a tour across America to be showcased in various cities. It is currently  part of KQED's Film School Shorts series.

Her second short "Baby" was a semifinalist for the 45th Student Academy Awards. It was awarded the  "Adrienne Shelly Foundation Award for Best Female Director" and has screened at various international film festivals.

Her third short "The Catch" won the Peruvian Ministry of Culture National Award and was nominated for "Best Student Short" at Tribeca Film Festival.

Her previous work in advertising has been awarded at international creativity festivals such as El Ojo de Iberoamérica and the U.S.H Hispanic Idea Awards.

Thais is currently developing her first feature-length film which just received the Peruvian Ministry of Culture Film Development Funds Award.
